Wayfaring Stranger
Am Dm Am
I am a poor wayfaring stranger,
Am E7 Am
A-travelling through this world of woe.
Am Dm Am
But there's no sickness, toil nor danger
Am E7 Am
In that bright land to which I go.
Am Dm Am
I'm going there to see my father,
Am E7 Am
I'm going there no more to roam.
Am Dm Am
I'm only going over Jordan,
Am E7 Am
I'm only going over home.
Am Dm Am
I know dark clouds will gather round me,
Am E7 Am
I know my way is rough and steep.
Am Dm Am
But golden fields lie out before me
Am E7 Am
Where God's redeemed their vigils keep.
Am Dm Am
I'll soon be free from every trial,
Am E7 Am
My body sleep in the churchyard.
Am Dm Am
I'll drop the cross of self-denial
Am E7 Am
And enter on my great reward.
